Our Summer CSA FAQs
-
Can I pay in installments?
Yes! We know that a produce share is a big purchase and gladly accept installments - we want everyone to be able to participate in eating good food and hope that payment installments increase this accessibility!
We ask that you commit a $100 non-refundable deposit, which is due within 1 week of ordering to hold your membership spot. The remainder balance is due by May 31st. You are welcome to make multiple installments up until the remainder due date.
Currently, we are only able to accept deposits and installment payments via Venmo, cash, or check. Please order through the website and use the corresponding payment discount code “CASH” or “VENMO” or “CHECK” at checkout.
-
Do you accept other forms of payment?
Yes! Besides credit cards, we gladly accept payment through Venmo (@farm_sol), cash, and checks . You can order through the website as normal then use the discount code “CASH” or “VENMO” or “CHECK” at checkout instead of paying with a card.
These alternative payment options help us save on credit card fees!

What's the "Contribution Share Discount"?
You exchange 4 hours of volunteer work for a $40 discount on your Summer Produce Share. Hours must be completed between mid May and early July - this is a crazy part of the season when extra hands are most crucial! Be prepared to bend, lift, twist, and sweat - please let us know ahead of time if you have physical limitations. Labor may include planting, weeding, harvesting, and other special projects. After signing up, we’ll send you an invite to book your volunteer hours on our calendar. We consider your labor contributions a very special gesture of love and support and we look forward to working alongside you!
You may bring multiple folks from your household (or even friends!) to participate. While we love seeing kids at our pick up and events, we kindly ask for kids to stay at home during these select hours, as not all projects are child-friendly.

When do I pick up my vegetables?
2024 SUMMER SHARES:
Farm Pick Up is Thursdays from 4-7 PM. Duluth Pick Up is Wednesdays from 2-5pm (Hillside Neighborhood) or 4:30-6:30 PM (Lincoln Park).
Specific start dates are weather dependent, but our goal is to begin early to mid June and continue through late September or early October. We will contact members at least 1 week before our season begins so you know when to pick up your share!
-
What's going in the Shares?
Specific Vegetable Share cooler contents are communicated to members weekly before pick-up. This to allow time for meal planning and adding extras, if desired.
For a broad overview of possible cooler combinations, see our Instagram page for photos of past seasons’ shares!
-
How do I store and use all my vegetables?
Check out our storage guide encompassing all produce we plan to grow at Farm Sol this season!
Tips for use and favorite recipes will be shared with members through our weekly email communications and social media.
-
Are all Shares packed the same?
We aim for identical cooler fills each week, but reserve the right for substitutions. If a substitution is to be made (due to shortage), we take note of it and will try to provide this variety to you the following week so that everyone can experience all of the season’s variety and potential.
-
Can I order additional items for pick-up with my Share?
Yes! We will have additional items available through our online Farm Store page. We will contact members with the proposed weekly cooler contents each Monday morning. Add any desired extras to your cart and check-out by 8 AM the morning of your pick up and they will be ready at your designated location with your cooler bag.
Effectively reserve your order through the website, but if you’d prefer to use alternative payment methods you can utilize the “CASH” (for pick-up on farm) and “VENMO” (@farm_sol for farm pick-up or other drop sites).
-
Can I decide what goes in my Share?
In order to give you the most seasonally-prime produce available and encourage diversity in both the field and our diets, the farmers will be choosing cooler contents each week. If you don’t like a particular vegetable, we encourage you to share your extras with friends, family, and neighbors.
If you want to be sure you are receiving something we have available in a particular week, or know that you’ll want extra for a special recipe, you can order additional items for pick-up with your cooler through our online Farm Store page.
-
Wow! This is a lot of vegetables!
Yes it is! Our shares are intentionally generous to encourage healthy, diverse eating choices and to provide the opportunity for produce preservation (freezing, drying, fermenting canning, etc.) for later use.
As a member, we’ll coach you through some of these preservation processes, but if you know the share size will be overwhelming for your lifestyle, you may consider finding a friend to split the cooler or opt for another local farm who specializes in smaller shares (we’d happily provide recommendations). Share splits will not be organized by the farm.
-
What if I can't make it to the pick-up location during the designated time and date (vacation)?
You are responsible in arranging a substitute pick-up. Friends usually love helping out with this, especially if you offer to share some of your cooler contents! If you can’t arrange a substitute picker-upper, contact us and we will arrange for your share to be donated.
If an alternative situation has not been organized beforehand, all shares abandoned or forgotten at pick-up locations will be donated after the designated pick-up window has passed.
-
What happens if there is a crop failure?
Pests, disease, and weather can cause crop failure at any point in the growing season and we cannot issue refunds in the case of crop failure. However, we do our best to build resiliency into our planting through soil health maintenance, seed and cropping biodiversity, and continual successions so you can reasonably expect to get a steady supply of produce throughout the growing season.
-
Do I have to attend the CSA events?
Attendance is not required, but we host events because we would love to get to know you! Our members are a fun group who share many values, so attending events is a great way to grow an amazing community circle… and talk recipes! Hope to see you there!
A formal event calendar is released to members the first week of CSA cooler pick-up each summer season.
